The 2BU Project...
Aimed at helping
girls aged 12-14 identify who they are and learning to
love themselves, its name kicks out at our comparison
culture and comes from knowing it’s okay ‘to be you’.
With teenage depression reaching alarming levels, and eating
disorders, self harming and statistics of abuse ever on the increase
we felt there was a desperate need to not only provide an answer
for some of the toughest cases through our residential support
programme; but to reach out into our wider neighbourhood to
help prevent girls falling deeper into these issues so prevalent in
our youth culture.
As such, we feel utterly compelled to involve in the schools, youth and community groups around us to deliver a programme that educates, empowers and equips young women to be all God planned for them to be.
2BU will help girls begin to understand
the issues around self-esteem, beauty, and worth and how those
qualities relate to confi dence, strength of character and our
ability to make healthy, well informed choices. The programme meets current National Curriculum guidelines and we
hope to deliver it as part of PSHE sessions in schools.
A resource pack will be made available to all partner churches and will be produced in partnership with the Dove Self-esteem Fund and the Eating Disorder Association.
