Sophie's Story

I'm alive today because of the time I spent at Mercy. Mercy has given me the skills and tools to live a successful life.  The staff loved me through my silence and dysfunctional ways and taught me how to set boundaries in relationships and to trust again.

I am so grateful to Mercy for believing in me- for believing there was more to me than what I could see. Mercy arranged for a teacher to come in once a week and tutor me in maths and literacy to help me with my basic skills.

Mercy saw me as an individual with potential and they invested in my future.  They gave me skills for life and helped rebuild my confidence.

Now I work with children. I am now investing in them because there is potential in every child - I just need to help them find a way to release it like Mercy did for me.

The girl who could not survive a day without mutilating her body, who was filled with so much turmoil at the thought of living because she just wanted to die - that girl no longer exists.

Mercy Ministries believed I had a future when I did not believe I had one and most of all, they always directed me back to God.  I am amazed and so thankful for the life I am living because I never dreamed it would be possible. I am overwhelmed at the changes God has done in me!

THANK YOU Mercy Ministries UK, because of you I feel like I CAN BREATHE AGAIN! XX
